Breaking Free from Poor Posture with Structural Integration

As kids, we often heard, “Don’t slouch!” or “Sit up straight!” from parents and teachers. Yet, as adults, we still find ourselves slumping in front of mirrors, noticing our rounded shoulders, forward head, and curved backs. We quickly straighten up, determined to maintain better posture, but within minutes, we fall back into the same slouch. Why does this happen? It can feel like something’s pulling us back into poor posture.

That “something” is called fascia.

Fascia is a thin, web-like tissue that runs throughout your body, holding everything in place. Think of it like your body’s internal support system. The problem is, fascia adapts to the positions we spend the most time in. If you spend hours each day slouched over a desk or phone, your fascia adjusts by tightening and reinforcing that position, making it harder to stand up straight.

Over time, this creates a pattern where your body becomes stuck in that slouched posture. No matter how much you try to correct it, your fascia pulls you back, reinforcing the posture it has learned.

Structural Integration works to release these patterns by addressing the tightness and restrictions in your fascia. Through a series of sessions, we help your body reset its natural posture, making it easier to stand tall without constant effort.
