Improve your posture

We’ve all been there. How many times as a kid you’ve been told: “Don’t slouch!”, “Sit up straight!”, “Tuck-in your stomach”, etc. As adults, we catch ourselves reflected on a full mirror and horrified

As adults, we catch ourselves reflected on a full mirror and horrified try to correct that slouched back, forward head, curled-in shoulders and promise ourselves not to go back to the old stance. Of course ten minutes after we are back to where we were. Why does this happen? Almost like there is an invisible force pulling you back out of a good posture.

This “invisible force” is called fascia. It’s a membrane like tissue that exists everywhere in your body. This fascia has really good memory and is always trying to help. If you spend five hours of your day slouched in front of a desk, computer or phone, your fascia will try to help by building collagenous tissue around that movement or posture.

If you spend five hours of your day slouched in front of a desk, computer or phone, your fascia will try to help by building collagenous tissue around that movement or posture. Fascia will hold you wherever you spend most of the time, being this the reason why it is so hard to get out of a postural habit (bad posture). Your fascia is fighting against you.

With Structural Integration, all these holding patterns get dissolved and holding a good posture becomes natural and effortless.
